Vandalism or Vigilantism?
I take note each morning as I do a two-mile walk throughout my neighborhood of the vandalism through what used to be a decent area.
Between Coldwater Canyon and Woodman Avenue, spray painting mars businesses and residences alike.
The glass surrounding bus benches is shattered, bullet holes create spider web patterns on glass storefronts, and even the tree trunks are defaced with graffiti.
This occurs on an almost nightly basis. Yet, I rarely see a patrol car cruising the area. These acts seemingly go unnoticed by the police.
The frustration is building within the area, and my fear is that sooner or later, people will decide to “ride shotgun” on their roofs and start blowing away the individuals responsible for the ruination of the area. The LAPD had better be on the alert, before the frustration starts breeding vigilante actions.
