CAMARILLO : Child Molester, 71, Sentenced to Prison
- Share via
A 71-year-old Camarillo man was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday for molesting two children during an eight-month period last year.
Charles S. Murphy had pleaded guilty to six counts of child molestation and two allegations that he engaged in substantial sexual conduct with the children--a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl.
They were the grandchildren of a woman that Murphy was dating, according to a probation investigator’s report.
The report said Murphy used money and ice cream on some occasions to entice the children into performing sex acts.
Murphy had no prior record, but under the law, Superior Court Judge Charles W. Campbell Jr. had to impose a state prison term of three to eight years.
