School Strike
What do the media and leaders of Los Angeles need to have happen before they realize that education in this city is at the brink of irreversible collapse? Did we really need the debacle of last April to reveal the social and economic ills that observant politicians and news editors should have seen festering? Do we really need a teachers’ strike and its accompanying chaos? Apparently so. What else will point out the cronyism, wrongheaded budget priorities and hostility to parents and teachers, which characterize the Los Angeles Unified School District?
Last time a jury lit the fuse. This time the L.A. board of education holds the match. Wake up, L.A.!
