Dance On: Six Los Angeles groups are among 109 dance companies selected for matching grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Bella Lewitzky Dance Foundation topped the list with $90,000, followed by the Aman Folk Ensemble with $70,000; Jazz Tap Ensemble, $44,000; Loretta Livingston & Dancers, $10,000; Lulu Washington Contemporary Dance Foundation, $10,000; and Rhapsody in Taps, $10,000. The largest awards went to the New York City Ballet and the Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation ($325,000 each) “in recognition of extraordinary artistic excellence and outstanding contributions to the field over time.” In all, the grants totaled $5.57 million.
