Leave Katella Be

A strong move is under way to change Katella Avenue to a super street. The main groups of homeowners and renters affected are minority and low income.

Seventy to 80 affordable houses will be lost if the street widening takes place. Noise and dirt levels will be raised. We now suffer the noise pollution of military aircraft using the Katella corridor. We have railroad noise and inconvenience nearby. Small minority-run businesses will also be adversely affected.

I suspect that our being a low-income, minority group makes us vulnerable to political indifference. Our supervisors probably do not see us as having strong advocacy. I hope they will reconsider.
