San Gabriel Valley : Yule Tree Recycling Urged
The cities of Arcadia, Duarte, Monrovia and West Covina are asking residents to recycle Christmas trees in the coming week.
Residents of houses and apartments in Arcadia, Duarte and Monrovia should place Christmas trees at the curb on the day of their regular trash pickup. Refuse haulers ask that the trees be free of stands and ornaments, and that they be cut in half if more than five feet tall.
West Covina residents can set their trees out on regular collection days in the yard waste container or beside the container. Trees can also be taken to the county drop-off site at Charter Oak Park in Covina. Any trees with stands, ornaments or flocking must be placed in a black garbage sack and will not be recycled. They will be picked up Jan. 9.
Recycled trees will be turned into mulch and will also be used as landfill cover.
