Summer Sanders, Tom Jager, Jeff Rouse and Joel Thomas won the first cash awards for Olympic swimmers while competing in the Kerr-McGee Elite International Swim Meet at Oklahoma City. Awards were $300 for first place, $200 for second. A rule change made the cash awards possible.
