Walnut : Coyote Warning Issued
City officials are warning residents to be on the lookout for coyotes, which are making bold searches for food in neighborhoods as winter approaches.
Although they resemble medium-size German shepherd dogs, coyotes have more elongated snouts and bushy, black-tipped tails.
Experts give the following advice to avoid attracting coyotes and other potentially dangerous wildlife:
Never feed a coyote or other wildlife. Feed your pets indoors, or promptly remove dishes when pets finish eating outside.
Clear brush and dense weeds from your property. Secure trash cans with tight clamps. Do not put trash cans out the night before scheduled pickup; put them out in the morning.
Do not use plastic bags as garbage containers. Keep small pets indoors.
