* OUTLOOK

Under Becker the past three seasons, the Vaqueros have built one of the best programs in the county. They even went into uncharted terrain--at least for them--last season, winning the Southern Section Division III-A championship and reaching the Southern California Regionals Division III finals against eventual State champion Brea-Olinda. This season, Rancho Alamitos features another strong team that’s the choice of every coach in the league to win its third consecutive league title. And they certainly have the personnel to do it. James, who averaged 10.0 points; Keller, who averaged 8.0, and Rodgers, who Becker says has “untapped potential,” will lead the team. Littman, the quickest player on the squad, will share the backcourt with Keller, and a host of players up from the junior varsity and freshman squads will help. Among them is Vickers, whose brother, Leon, is a standout on the football team. “She’s the toughest girl in our program,” Becker said.
