COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Oxnard Defeat Cypress on Last-Second Basket

Lance Fay made a driving lay-up with one second left to give Oxnard a 79-78 victory over Cypress in one semifinal game Friday at the Cypress Bill Taormina Tournament at Cypress.
Cypress (11-4) rallied from 18 points down and led by as many as six with less than four minutes left. Oxnard (10-4) plays Long Beach at 8 tonight for the championship and Cypress plays Golden West at 6 p.m. for third place.
In other Cypress tournament games:
Long Beach 83, Golden West 79--Dave Dunham scored 19 points for Golden West (5-8) and Jamie Davis had 25 for Long Beach (14-3).
College of the Canyons 104, Irvine Valley 90--Jason Joynes had 27 points and 14 rebounds as Canyons (6-7) eliminated Irvine Valley (7-6).
In the Pasadena tournament:
Rio Hondo 60, Rancho Santiago 57--Jose Aquilar hit a three-pointer with three seconds left for Rio Hondo (7-2). Fred Amos scored 16 for Rancho Santiago (8-4).
In the Orange Coast women’s tournament:
Orange Coast 63, Los Angeles Trade Tech 44--Orange Coast (12-0) opened a 33-14 lead at the end of the first half on the way to the easy victory. Jana Davis scored 12 for OCC.
