As Many as 7 Killed in Crash of Small Jet

BILLINGS, Mont. — A small jet crashed into a warehouse Friday evening and severed a natural-gas line, causing a large fire. Officials said as many as seven people on board were killed, but four in the building escaped uninjured.
The twin-engine Cessna Citation 550, owned by the federal Department of Energy, crashed in an industrial section of east Billings before 5 p.m. MST while trying to land at Billings Logan International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
“I understand seven on board” but that isn’t confirmed, said Joe Catalano, operations officer at FAA regional headquarters in Seattle.
The flight originated in Watertown, S.D., Catalano said.
The aircraft belonged to the Western Area Power Administration, a DOE agency with an office in Watertown, said a department spokesman in Washington, D.C.
