Rep. Hunter’s Post

The Times (Dec. 8) gave considerable space to the election of Republican leaders in the House of Representatives but didn’t mention that Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Coronado) was reelected chairman of the Republican Research Committee, the only Californian in the House leadership.
Hunter is currently chairman of this committee, and had no opposition in his bid for reelection. Several congressmen who are heads of task forces in the committee told of their activities during the Republican caucus meetings. Since the Democrats name every committee chairman in the House and Senate, and set all the agendas, the House Republican Research Committee assumes new importance in giving impetus for new ideas.
