Correspondent Detained Over Israel Coverage

JERUSALEM — Israel on Monday detained a Reuters correspondent in the Gaza Strip who was covering an upsurge in violence in the occupied territories.
Taher Shriteh, who also works as a part-time reporter for the New York Times, CBS and the British Broadcasting Corp., was arrested at his home, his family said.
Defense Ministry spokesman Oded Ben Ami said Shriteh had been arrested because security forces were checking “some charges of hostile activities.â€
