Lakers Not for Sale: Reacting swiftly to a published report that Sony Pictures Entertainment was said to be showing interest in buying the Los Angeles Lakers, a spokesman said the National Basketball Assn. team isn’t for sale. “I guarantee you that (Laker owner) Jerry Buss will not sell the Lakers,†said Bob Steiner, public relations director for California Sports. “He loves them too much.†Quoting sources, the Los Angeles Times had reported that Sony’s movie unit is exploring the purchase of the Lakers and their arena, the Forum, both owned by Buss.
