OLD FLAME: When the Jewish Community Center of Orange County lights its 10-foot menorah to mark the start of Hanukkah on Sunday, it won’t be done with the flick of a Bic. It will be from a torch arriving at John Wayne Airport from the Israeli town of Modi’in, with a stop-off at the White House. The torch will then be run three miles to the ceremony. . . . “This is the first time we’ve done it,” said spokeswoman Stacy Blumberg Garon. “We’re even getting a delegation from Los Angeles to share in the flame.” . . . Local synagogues are being invited to light lanterns from the flame.
