A motorcycle police officer was injured Sunday in Granada Hills after his motorcycle struck a car making an illegal left turn in front of him, police said.
Police Officer Norm Nagengast was riding west on Devonshire Street at Amestoy Avenue about 5:45 p.m. when a car driven by an unidentified motorist suddenly made an illegal left turn in front of him, Los Angeles Police Officer Robert Robinson said.
Nagengast’s motorcycle struck the car, and he was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was treated for a fractured spine, Robinson said. A hospital spokeswoman said Nagengast was in stable condition Sunday night.
The motorist was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, Robinson said.
