The board of Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo has elected Ricardo Amador as its new president.
He was elected to the one-year post in a 3-2 vote Thursday.
Amador, who works as a principal at a Port Hueneme elementary school, was appointed to the Pleasant Valley board in November, 1991, to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Maria Tejada.
Last month, Camarillo voters elected him to a full four-year term.
Amador was nominated for board president by veteran board member Dolores V. Rains and was elected with the votes of himself, Rains and new board member Robert Rexford. Board members Jeannette McDonald and Leonard Caligiuri, who were both elected in 1990, voted for McDonald as board president.
