On the Podium: Yuri Temirkanov, who is here guest-conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, has been named principal conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been the Royal Philharmonic’s principal guest conductor for the last decade, and is also music director and principal conductor of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
