OUTLOOK

Three returning starters, plus plenty of experience, make the Eagles one of the favorites in the league race. It has been a freewheeling group in recent years, but DeBusk plans to emphasize defense more in his first season. “It’s going to be a little different here than in the past,” DeBusk said. “We’re trying to teach our defensive philosophy and we’re starting to see it take hold. We’re still going to run. We’re going to be an up-tempo team. But we’re going to try to guard some people too.” The Eagles have one of the county’s better point guards in Dzierzynski. He was a second-team All-Angelus League pick last season. He will divvy up baskets among a host of players who are between 6-2 and 6-5. “We don’t overwhelm people with our size, but we have some guys who can play a pretty good brand of basketball,” DeBusk said.
