4 Alemany High Players Kicked Off Team

Four Alemany High basketball players have been kicked off the team, Coach Kurt Keller said Monday.
Reserve Matt Lufrano has been placed on strict probation by the school for activities not related to the basketball team, meaning he cannot participate in any extra-curricular activities, Keller said.
Leading scorer Doug Tait and key reserves Matt Corelli and Mike Corr--all seniors--have been suspended indefinitely by Keller because of their conduct Friday at an Alemany girls’ basketball game.
Keller said the three were using vulgarities and abusive language toward the players. He said they will not be allowed to return to the team until they formally apologize to the girls and prove to Keller that they can “contribute to the team in a positive way.”
“They’re trying to test me and they’re going to lose,” Keller said. “If I have to go down” to the junior varsity team “to fill spots I will. I will not allow them to do the things they are doing.”
The Indians also have lost Chris Engler for an indefinite period. Engler has missed the last three games because of a virus.
