3 Bosco Tech Students Vie for Scholar Awards

Three students at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead are among 3,000 youths nationwide to be named semifinalists in the National Hispanic Scholar Awards Program.
The three, selected on the basis of academics, are Frank Acosta of Montebello, and Alexander Musil and Carlo Razo of Monterey Park.
Five hundred scholarships are available.
4 Freshmen Win Club’s Political Speech Contest
Four freshmen in the El Monte Union High School District have won the Friendly El Monte Democratic Club’s speech contest, which had the theme “Money and Politics: An Evil Brew?”
Tabitha Pang of Mountain View High placed first, Jeremy Martinez of Rosemead High was second, Cindy Huynh of South El Monte High won third and Daniel A. Gutierrez of Mountain View High placed fourth.
