CAMARILLO : City Council Rejects Pet Cleanup Law
The Camarillo City Council rejected a motion to make pet owners responsible for cleaning up after their animals when they are on public and private property.
In a 3-2 vote, council members said it would be difficult to enforce such a law.
“If you’re going to enforce a law effectively, you need to devote manpower to it,†City Manager Bill Little said. “We don’t like to put laws on the books that we can’t enforce.â€
Instead, the council asked the city staff to devise a public education program to encourage pet owners to clean up after their pets.
