PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Film Reveals a Ground Game
In preparing for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, Raider Coach Art Shell, while watching film of the teams’ first meeting, discovered that the Raiders were able to run the ball, something they have not been able to do recently.
“We ran the ball pretty good,†Shell said. “We sustained our blocks much better that game. Much better than we are at this particular time.†They lost that game, however, 17-13.
Eric Dickerson leads the Raiders in rushing with 406 yards in 114 carries. However, he is averaging only 3.6 yards per carry.
Wide receiver coach Fred Biletnikoff, who is home recovering from recent prostate cancer surgery, is expected to miss the next couple of weeks. . . . Denver quarterback John Elway is listed as doubtful for Sunday because of a bruised right shoulder. His status will be determined today in practice. . . . After being among the worst in the NFL in the turnover differential, the Raiders have taken sole possession of last place. By forcing only 12 turnovers, while giving up 26, the Raiders have a minus-14 differential.
