Kennedy’s Scarbrough Forced to Transfer
Kennedy High junior tailback Donte Scarbrough, the team’s leading rusher, was transferred to Granada Hills on Thursday for disciplinary reasons.
Scarbrough, the latest in a long line of standout backs at Kennedy, will be allowed to re-enroll at Kennedy in the spring if there are no further disciplinary incidents.
He is not eligible to participate in athletics at Granada Hills.
Scarbrough, who has rushed for 704 yards and eight touchdowns, was suspended last Friday for allegedly taking the jacket of another Kennedy student, Coach Bob Francola said. He did not play in last week’s 14-8 loss to Chatsworth.
Kennedy Principal Andreda Pruitt met with Scarbrough’s parents Thursday.
Francola said he was pleased that Scarbrough likely will return to Kennedy in time for spring practice and that the matter is resolved.
“She wanted a cooling-off period,†Francola said of Pruitt’s decision. “There were two ways to go: Keep him here where we could keep an eye on him, or send him out. I support what the school decided.â€
