Compton : $10,000 Allocated for Christmas Party
The City Council has approved a city staff request for $10,000 for the city employees’ Christmas party.
The request came from City Manager Howard Caldwell’s office, who asked for “funds not to exceed $10,000 for the 1992 employees’ Christmas party.†The three council members present, Omar Bradley, Jane D. Robbins and Bernice Woods, passed the motion without discussion.
“The city manager annually asks for about $10,000 for the Christmas party, but usually only spends about $4,000,†Bradley said. “I know money is tight, but our staff hasn’t had a raise in eons. They’re overworked and underpaid and I’m sure this is just Mr. Caldwell’s way of showing his appreciation.â€
