Jason Clemmons’ 43-yard touchdown pass play to Lloyd Hill with a three seconds left rallied Texas Tech to a 31-28 victory over Texas Christian in a wild Southwest Conference game Saturday at Ft. Worth.
There were four touchdowns in the final 2:34.
TCU freshman reserve Max Knake came in to throw two fourth-quarter scoring passes to Jimmy Oliver, including one with 49 seconds to play. But it wasn’t enough for the Horned Frogs, 2-7-1 overall and 1-5 the SWC.
Knake gave the Frogs a 21-17 lead at the 2:34 left with a seven-yard scoring pass to Oliver. Then Clemmons flipped an eight-yard touchdown strike to Hill with 1:06 seconds left to give Texas Tech (4-6, 3-3) a 24-21 lead.

Texas 35, Southern Methodist 14--Peter Gardere threw for three touchdowns and the Longhorns’ defense locked up the Mustangs’ run-and-shoot offense in this SWC game at Austin, Tex.
The Texas defense, which has struggled for much of the season without a strong pass rush, sacked SMU quarterbacks seven times, including three by Winfred Tubbs.
Texas (6-3, 4-1) still has Baylor and No. 4 Texas A&M; left on its schedule. SMU fell to 4-6 and 2-5.
Gardere’s three touchdown passes give him 15 for the season, which is a school record.
SMU receiver Jason Wolf caught six passes, giving him an SWC record 221 receptions.
Rice 34, Baylor 31--Darrell Richardson kicked a 27-yard field goal with four seconds left, capping another wild SWC game and leading the Owls to a victory over the Bears at Houston.
The victory put Rice (5-4, 4-2) in position for its first winning season since 1963 if it can win one of its final games against Navy or Houston. Baylor is 5-5 and 3-3.
