More Talk, Less Cop

Surprisingly little has been written regarding the reinvention of Gates as talk-show host. Only six months removed from tragedy, it seems a tasteless move, especially given the “humorous” tone of his radio spots, “laughingly” referring to his role as intolerant, tough cop.

Your article is filled with testaments to Gates’ “niceness.” What remains on the air, however, is sadly the same: an arrogant spokesman for an intolerant right, precisely what this city, at this crucial time, does not need.
