Jacot Is Rested While SCC Loses
BREA — Santa Monica St. Monica wide receiver Steve Pulley caught four passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Mariners to a 45-14 victory over Southern California Christian in a nonleague game Thursday night at Brea-Olinda High.
SCC Coach Bert Esposito rested leading rusher Mike Jacot because the Flames (5-5) had already clinched a Division XI playoff berth.
While heading into the playoffs with a loss might cause some coaches to be concerned, Esposito found some solace in his team’s loss.
“This was a good game for my younger players to get some quality time, and as the game progressed, we started fighting back,†Esposito said.
SCC’s first score came in the second quarter while trailing, 26-0. SCC quarterback Boomer Felton scored on a four-yard bootleg. Felton led the Flames in rushing with 123 yards in 11 carries and also passed for 99 yards and a touchdown.
