Border Attack

As to L.B. Merles’ Oct. 4 letter on Canada border crossings, I don’t know about the routines generally, but high on my list of best tips ever received from a busboy was from the young man in Vancouver who told us to take the border crossing the trucks use out of his city.
To do so, we started out south on TransCanada 1 from Vancouver as usual, but cut east at 264th Street (Highway 13). A nice, rural road took us to customs (near Aldergrove), where there were no trucks and only two cars ahead in the waiting line. (Limited hours for crossing are 8 a.m.-midnight. Highway 13 becomes Washington 539, which links with Interstate 5.)
