Kelly Critical, Still Unconscious 2 Days After Stroke
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Councilman Jack Kelly remained hospitalized in critical condition Friday, two days after suffering a massive stroke.
Kelly, 65, was found unconscious by his wife, Jo, on Wednesday. City officials said Friday that the councilman, who is being treated at Humana Hospital-Huntington Beach, has not regained consciousness.
Kelly has been in poor health since April, when he suffered a heart attack. He had bypass heart surgery in early May, but returned to council work June 1.
Kelly was first elected to the Huntington Beach City Council in 1980. He has twice served as mayor.
