The Pirates’ middle hitter helped her team to a pair of San Gabriel Valley League wins. She recorded 15 kills as Paramount defeated Downey High, 15-4, 6-15, 15-4, 15-7. She added another 17 kills as the Pirates defeated Cerritos High, 15-12, 17-15, 2-15 and 15-6 to move into a second-place tie with Cerritos.

Becky Brush, setter for Millikan High of Long Beach, had 51 assists as the Rams recorded two easy Moore League volleyball victories. Brush had 24 assists in defeating Jordan High, 15-7, 15-3 and 15-2. She added another 27 assists in Millikan’s 15-5, 15-1 and 15-3 blowout of Lakewood High.

Dianne Asis, star singles player for the tennis team at Jordan High of Long Beach, recorded a three-match sweep against her opponents in a losing cause against Poly High of Long Beach. Asis then advanced to the semifinals of the Moore League singles tournament. She won both of her matches by the score of 8-1.
