San Pedro 48, Verbum Dei 0--Tailback Ambrose Russo rushed for 92 yards in 12 carries and had three first-half touchdowns to lead San Pedro in a nonconference game at Daniels Field.
The Pirates scored 28 points in the first half, including a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chris Pappas to receiver Eddie Correa. Running back Jeffrey Williams rushed for 119 yards in 13 carries and a touchdown.
Verbum Dei was led by running back Alton Stafford, who rushed for 29 yards in six carries. The Eagles’ usually strong passing attack was crippled by the absence of star receiver Lamont Solomon, who was sick.
