ACTON : Man Sentenced for Kidnaping Ex-Wife
An Acton man was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for kidnaping his ex-wife and threatening to kill her if she did not return to him.
George J. Miller, 55, was convicted in Van Nuys Superior Court four months ago of the Feb. 26 kidnaping of his former wife, Terri Miller, from her Woodland Hills workplace.
He drove her to a deserted area near Acton, according to court records.
After threatening to shoot her, Miller let her go on her promise to reconcile with him, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Jeffrey S. Gootman.
The couple had been divorced one month at the time of the incident, Gootman said, “and Miller continued to view his wife as property.â€
The prosecutor told Judge Michael Harwin that Miller frequently beat and verbally intimidated his wife during their marriage.
