Shrewd Vixen Wins Feature at Oak Tree
Shrewd Vixen overtook Amorously at the top of the stretch and held off longshot Summer Glory to win by 2 1/2 lengths in the $36,000 feature at Santa Anita’s Oak Tree meeting Wednesday.
Shrewd Vixen, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, covered the mile on turf in 1:34 4/5. The 4-year-old filly paid $7.60, $4.60 and $3.40 as the second choice in the field of 10 fillies and mares.
Summer Glory, a 19-1 shot ridden by Corey Nakatani, finished second and paid $12.40 and $6.40.
Loretta Wolf, ridden by Alex Solis, closed from last to third, a half-length behind Summer Glory, and paid $5.60.
Capital Star, the 8-5 favorite ridden by Laffit Pincay Jr., faded in the stretch and finished seventh.
