Leak Develops in WW II ‘Ship That Wouldn’t Die’

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The destroyer Laffey, dubbed “the ship that wouldn’t die†after surviving Japanese attacks in World War II, was taking on water Wednesday and divers were sent to find the leak. The ship, berthed at a museum dock, was listing about 10 degrees but was in no danger of sinking, museum officials said.
