Speedy Sea Kings: In addition to winning the sweepstakes division, the Corona del Mar girls’ cross-country team also broke the team time record at the Orange County Championships Saturday at Irvine Park in Orange.

The Sea Kings’ top five runners had a combined time of 92 minutes 49 seconds, breaking the 93:24 mark set by Edison last year.

“I think Corona’s the best Division III team I’ve ever seen,” said Foothill Coach Jerry Whitaker, the race director. “We got second in the State in 1990. This Corona del Mar team would blow that team out.”
