NATION IN BRIEF : TEXAS : Town Quietly Marks Slaying Anniversary

Church bells rang across Killeen, Tex., one year after a gunman rammed his truck into Luby’s cafeteria and fired on a lunchtime crowd, killing 23 people. Some residents wore white ribbons, others drove with their headlights on as part of a low-key observance. Some also bowed their heads in memory of the dead and the 21 others who were wounded by gunman George Hennard, who later took his own life during a shootout with police.
