Three Los Angeles men were arrested in two San Gabriel Valley jewelry heists after police saw a car believed to be the getaway vehicle, authorities said this week.
Downey officers located the stolen brown Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Sunday in the parking lot of a shopping mall and arrested the occupants.
Two armed men made off with more than $80,000 worth of jewelry from a Sears store Oct. 7, Pasadena Police Lt. Wayne Hiltz said. The next morning, a man and a woman stole an undetermined amount of jewels from Gem City Jewelers in Monrovia. The owner of the store and an employee were shot and they remain hospitalized.
Monrovia police booked Charles E. King, 22, on suspicion of attempted murder, armed robbery and grand theft auto in the robbery, Lt. Patrick Hardy said. Ronnie Dwayne Bruce, 18, and a 16-year-old whose name was not released were being held by Pasadena police for their alleged involvement in the Sears robbery.
