AT&T; Unveils Undersea Cable Project: AT&T; said it is the leading investor in a new $220-million undersea fiber optic cable system that will connect the United States, St. Thomas, Brazil, Trinidad and Venezuela. With a 25% stake in the project, AT&T; said a portion of the system, called Americas-1, will use new AT&T; Bell Laboratories cable technology. Americas-1, scheduled for customer service by September, 1994, is owned by 58 international telecommunications carriers.
