Doctor: Cocaine Killed Kordic

An “enormous� amount of cocaine killed former NHL player John Kordic, a pathologist testified Thursday in Quebec.

Georges Miller said at a coroner’s inquest that 0.1 milligrams of the drug was found in the body of Kordic, who died Aug. 9 in an ambulance on the way to hospital after a struggle with police in a suburban motel room.

Miller said he had never seen so much cocaine in a person’s blood in his 20 years of practice and that Kordic’s death was entirely the result of that cocaine consumption.

Police were called to the motel after the manager complained that Kordic was causing a disturbance. It eventually took nine police officers to subdue the 238-pound Kordic, known in his playing days as an enforcer.
