San Diego Insurer to Pay Fine: Golden Eagle Insurance Co. has agreed to pay a $150,000 fine for numerous violations of the California Insurance Code, Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi announced. According to a stipulation and consent order, San Diego-based Golden Eagle has admitted to 12 different types of violations involving more than 30 lines and programs of insurance. The violations include failure to file rates and charging discriminatory rates. The stipulation states that in addition to paying the fine, Golden Eagle has agreed to correct the violations discovered in the department’s examination. Consumers who were overcharged will be credited for the overpayment.
