Measure Authorizing Special Prosecutors Dies
<i> Associated Press</i>
WASHINGTON — Legislation to renew a post-Watergate law assuring outside investigations of governmental wrongdoing was killed for the year Tuesday when 28 Senate Republicans threatened to filibuster it.
Sponsors of the legislation said a filibuster would make passage impossible if the Senate reaches its goal of adjourning on Monday.
