COSTA MESA : Meeting Is Tonight on Proposed Bridges

County officials will hold a community meeting tonight on the proposed construction of bridges to span the Santa Ana River at Gisler, Wilson and 19th streets.

The meeting is the first in a series of hearings that will be held during the next few months on the Santa Ana River Cooperative Bridge Study, which was initiated at the request of city officials after residents voiced concerns about the proposed bridges.

The bridges are contained in the county’s master plan for roadways, but there are no current plans to build them. The study being conducted will also look at the impacts of widening East 19th Street.

Ron Tippets and Jenifer Rice of the County Environmental Management Agency will be on hand to explain the study, take input and field questions. Final conclusions about the study are not expected for several months.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave. For more information, phone Rice at (714) 834-5383.
