New Airline to Offer No-Frills Flights to Hawaii: Family Airlines, a new company based in Las Vegas, plans to offer no-frills round-trip service from Hawaii to the West Coast for $249. The airline has filed for certification with the U.S. Department of Transportation and hopes to begin flights in January. It said it will make meals optional, put extra seats in each plane and should be able to break even by selling 55% of its seats. It expects to operate at 90% capacity because of its low fares, a company spokesman said. The airline was founded by Southern California businessman Barry Michaels.
