Don Majkowski’s injured left ankle has improved but it is doubtful he will play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, said Coach Mike Holmgren of the Green Bay Packers.
Brett Favre quarterbacked the Packers to a 24-23 victory over Cincinnati last weekend after Majkowski strained ligaments in the ankle 7 1/2 minutes into the game. Favre will start against the Steelers, with rookie Ty Detmer as his backup.
Holmgren said fullback Harry Sydney, a wishbone quarterback for two seasons at Kansas, could be used if Favre and Detmer are sidelined by injuries.
