Beverly Hills : Some School Cuts Rescinded

After preparing for the worst earlier this month, the Beverly Hills Unified School District board has voted to rescind some budget cuts and use part of $500,000 in unexpected revenue that materialized when the smoke from the state budget battle cleared.

School board members approved spending $390,000 to reinstate 6.4 teaching positions and to rescind an “austerity budget†that cut funding for substitute teachers, clerical help, custodial services, school supplies, equipment repair and staff training.

In addition, two dozen teachers brought back this fall on a per diem basis were returned to regular status.
