BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Three Ku Klux Klansmen were convicted Wednesday of violating a black family’s civil rights by burning a cross in the yard after the family moved into an all-white community. The jury found the three guilty on nine charges stemming from the March, 1991, blaze at the home of Isiah and Linda Ruffin, near Albertville in northwest Alabama. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
