VAN NUYS : Woman Fatally Shot on Street

A suspected prostitute standing on a Van Nuys street with a group of other women believed to be prostitutes was shot and killed early Wednesday morning, police said.
Melanie Droll, 23, was standing in the 7000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard near Gault Street when she was shot once in the upper body, said Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Harvey Eubanks of the Van Nuys station.
Paramedics took her to Valley Presbyterian Hospital, where she died about 3 a.m.
There were no arrests and no known motive for the shooting, Eubanks said.
