ROUNDUP : Capistrano Valley Wins Water Polo Title at Millikan
Capistrano Valley, the No. 2-ranked team in Orange County, defeated North Hollywood Harvard Westlake, the Southern Section Division 3-A defending champion, 8-7, in the finals of the Long Beach Millikan water polo tournament Saturday.
Jake Yokota scored four goals for the Cougars (5-0) and tournament MVP Jeremy Braxton-Brown scored one.
In other Millikan tournament games:
Marina 16, Los Angeles Loyola 12--Matt Braun and Eric Goodwin each scored four goals to help the Vikings win the fifth-place match.
Esperanza 12, Villa Park 7--Brandon Chastain and Brandon Martinez each scored four goals for Esperanza (6-1), which won the consolation final.
In the Rosemead Bosco Tech water polo tournament:
Saddleback 10, Etiwanda 4--Ha Son Vu and Robert Grosse each scored three goals to help Saddleback (6-2) win the fifth-place match at Rosemead High.
In nonleague eight-man football:
Liberty Christian 48, Bloomington Christian 46--With 2 minutes 35 seconds remaining, Gabe Baltadano scored on a five-yard touchdown run to lift Liberty Christian (2-0) past Bloomington (1-1). At the Century girls’ volleyball tournament:
Orange Lutheran wins--Tournament MVP Julie Mangels led Orange Lutheran to a 15-8, 15-12 victory over Laguna Hills in the championship match.
