Eric Lindros, 19, making his NHL debut against the Quebec Nordiques, the team he spurned, led the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-3 exhibition victory Saturday before a near-capacity crowd of 17,226 at Philadelphia.
The 6-foot-4 Lindros had a goal and an assist.
The Nordiques picked Lindros No. 1 overall in 1991, but he refused to sign and eventually forced a trade.
Asked about his play, Lindros said: “I think the only grade is a W. It’s a win.”
Said Flyer Coach Bill Dineen: “The big guy did everything we thought he was going to do. He was a force out there.”
Nordique Coach Pierre Page added: “I saw the Canada Cup. Nothing he does surprises me.”
